Customs FAQ

Clear answers before cargo starts moving.

General guidance for planning. Final requirements depend on the cargo, origin, destination and applicable government agencies.

Standard containerized cargo may clear within three to seven working days when documents are accurate, taxes are settled promptly and no extended inspection is required.

The transaction value is generally the starting point, adjusted for freight, insurance and other dutiable costs. Customs may seek supporting evidence or apply another valuation method where information is insufficient.

Typical requirements include transport documents, invoice and packing list, transit declaration, route details and a customs bond or guarantee. Electronic cargo tracking may also apply.

Confirm regulated-product permits before shipment wherever possible. Late applications can create storage exposure and may prevent customs declaration or release.
